parent letter
Dear Parents,
We have lots of fun this week and we have learned a lot. Our brains need a rest!
First we have been learning about sounds. Sounds come from vibration. We can hear sound because molecules around us vibrate. This is why sound cannot travel in space. In space there are no molecules. Did you know when you are on a football field if you wave and yell to someone on the other end of the field you would see the wave before you hear them yell. This is because light travels much faster then sound. We took a wire and a cup and made a telephone. It was cool because we made it a conference call by touching more strings together.
Another thing we did this week was we finished our colonial letters. You should go onto our blog to check them out. We made up our own names for our letters that were actually the first governor’s name of our colony. It was fun making the letters but sometimes frustrating because Mr. Grillo kept writing comments on our work and we had to change and revise our writing. It was good that he did this because it made our writing better then it was at the beginning.
Thirdly some of us reached our AR goal. This is important because next week is the end of the quarter and we need to be at 100%. Speaking of the end of the quarter we took our first NWEA test today. Most of us showed improvement.
This week we have been looking at habit 2 Begin with the End in Mind. Begin with the end in mind means you plan ahead and set goals. We do this every week because we set goals in our binder.
Now you know all the things we have done this week.
Sincerely
Your thridgraders
